Let’s face it, most of us aren’t comfortable with self-affirmations. We wouldn’t hesitate to compliment a friend or family member for overcoming a challenge or succeeding at something. And yet we often don’t extend the same consideration to ourselves. Affirmations aren’t narcissistic. They support. They nurture. They encourage. They acknowledge. They motivate. They inspire. Did you take 1 hour for yourself this week to do something for your physical and/or mental health? If you did, it’s worth acknowledging: “I am proud of myself,” “I’m committed to wellness.” If you didn’t, that’s OK too: “I forgive myself.” Practice some affirmations.
